2 Tips To Ensure Everyone Makes It To Your Destination Wedding On Time

Blog

If you are planning a destination wedding, your guests are going to need to be able to get smoothly from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the wedding. Here are a few things you can do to make sure that transportation concerns are covered for all of your guests.

#1 Arrange For A Hotel Block That Provides Airport Transportation

One of the points of a destination wedding is that everyone gets to hang out together and share the experience together. It is about making memories together, not separately. Try to find a hotel or resort that all of your potential guests would enjoy staying at, and reserve a block of rooms for your guests. That way, everyone who attends the wedding will be at the same location, which will make hanging out together as well as transportation easier for you to arrange.

Make sure that you pick a hotel that provides a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. That will make it easier for everyone attending your wedding to get to the hotel. Just make sure that all of your guests know to inform the hotel ahead of time when their flight will be arriving to ensure that a hotel shuttle will be there to pick them up. Additionally, on the day of travel, text all of your guests the number of the hotel's shuttle service so that they can easily call the shuttle service if they need additional assistance because their flight changes or they can't find the shuttle or anything else that may arise.

#2 Hire A Shuttle Service For The Wedding

If the wedding and reception are not going to be on the grounds of the resort where you are staying, you should arrange for a shuttle service to take your guests to and from the wedding and reception site. Since you are holding a destination wedding, you shouldn't expect your guests to all rent vehicles to get to your actual wedding site.

Your hotel may have a shuttle service you can use for your wedding. Or a local company that provides shuttles to things such as the airport may be just as willing to work with you to arrange for shuttle service to your wedding. Make sure that you arrange this in advance. You are going to need to know approximately how many guests will be attending your wedding, how far the round trip will be, and approximately how many shuttle runs you'll need made for your wedding.

Arranging for transportation from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the wedding site is the best way to ensure that all of your guests make it to the wedding on it and without running into any issues.

Navigating Public Transportation in a Big City

I come from a small town. It's so small that there is no public bus service—you can walk everywhere within city limits. People drove their cars if they wanted to leave town. At home, I rarely saw a taxi, and subways were something I only saw in movies. Moving to New York City was a shock in many ways, but learning how to get around using public transportation was one of the biggest hurdles that I faced. I didn't know how much to tip a taxi driver or how to find my way around on the bus. However, I did eventually learn. I know that there must be many people who are facing the same learning curve that I was facing a few years ago. I started this blog to help other small town natives like me learn how to get around in the big city.
